When the British Chamber of Commerce in Turkey was established in 1887 communications were somewhat different and therefore the development of trade were much slower than now, and as a result human contact and personal acquaintances were much more important. We are witnessing the extraordinary growth of the Internet over the past 10 years, and it is time that the Chamber utilises this tool for the benefit of its members and all those who wish to develop trade between Turkey and the UK. It is our intention to pass on the enormous depth of knowledge that we have about Turkey and Turkish companies to their UK counterparts, and to developed the links on behalf of Turkish members that we have with Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the UK as well as Government bodies, such as Trade Partners UK. We will do this by providing access to our databases and also by providing links to relevant pages on the Internet. We believe that the strong growth in many world economies over the past years, especially the U.S. and the U.K., is due in part to the increasing use of the Internet to develop connections and to facilitate business. We hope to provide these advantages to all visitors to this site, and at the same time we are more then happy to listen suggestions and constructive criticism to improve our site. The Chamber has believed in Turkey for 121 years, and at the birth of the Third millennium we can see an even brighter future for Turkey, and there for those who choose to do business in this fast developing country of producers, consumers and providers of service, which is also the bridge to many more exciting markets to the North and East.
