ISBI A.S. (Istanbul Atatürk Airport Free Zone Founder and Operator Inc.) is a private sector enterprise which is the founder and operator of Istanbul Atatürk Airport Free Zone that has started its activities in 1990 by the build-operate-transfer method for a period of 40 years upon the resolution of the Council of Ministers dated 1 July 1996 and is still conducting this function successfully. Since its establishment, ISBI A.S. has been involved in superstructure and infrastructure activities which are most required within the free zone by bringing its investor identity to the forefront. It continues its activities by giving fast and quality services to nearly 400 local and international companies that are leaders in their sectors. The regional area has been enlarged by around 180 thousand square meters as of the year 2005 and investments on modern production and warehouse locations in accordance with the requirements of the companies situated in this zone. There are many foreign trade companies active in the offices, warehouses and office + warehouse structures taking place within a closed area of 57,250 m2 in the region. ISBI A.S. has realized a structuring activity in the direction of users requirements with its investments started in 1996 while finalizing also the related infrastructure studies required within the zone. Construction of roads for use by heavy-duty vehicles and orbital roads around the zone, external lighting facilities, surrounding fences and exterior walls, a closed circuit secret camera control system for security purposes, a clean water and wastewater network, a water tank with a capacity of 500 tons, a fire alarm and early warning system, filed hydrants, central heating systems at all offices and warehouses, a central cooling system at ISBI Plaza, a transformer station of 2000 kwA and a generator of 1600 kwA for electricity requirements as well as a digital switchboard and telecommunications infrastructure are among major investments. Investments made in this region have reached to a total of 50 million USD. Consequently, the company has realized its objectives at a level much higher than 100% with regard to trade volume generated, employment realized and operating fund revenues in the region with its investments it has brought into life in addition to its obligations within the framework of the contract made with the Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade of Turkish Republic.
