Turkon Container Transportation &Shipping was established in March 3rd 1997 by Kasif Kalkavan Group of Companies beginning with a scheduled service between U.S., Turkey and Med. On April 9th of the same year , Turkon Line’s Izmir agency opened , October 4th Mersin agency also started. With a fast transit time of 11 days between Turkey and the United States, Turkon established itself as a quality carrier in the marketplace. Turkon Line started its first overseas agency, Turkon America Inc. January 1998. April 3rd 2000 the Ankara liaison office opened followed in August 2000 Bursa Agency, and in July 2002 Turkon Line UK and Turkon Deutschland opened September 2002.Turkon is also planning to expand its agency network depending on future geographical and logistical needs. Turkon Line calls ports in the Mediterranean, Israel, North America and Europe. With its owned new containers serving the needs of the shippers, Turkon also provides specialized equipment such as euro palette wide, 40’/45 high cube, flat rack, open top, hanging garment and reefer containers. Turkon achieved a good standing position in the market among its Turkish and foreign competitors with its own fast and newly built vessel fleet. These vessels incorporate the latest technology and speed built by Sedef Shipyard, another member of the Turkon Holding Companies. In return these vessels deliver the fastest transit time currently in the market. With all these value added services Turkon Line has become a brand name leading the Turkish market and continues to expand its services in parallel with foreign trade.
